G'day Sports fans,

It's been a big few weeks for me in Paul Williamson Golf.

After playing in as many tournament rounds over the last month as I have in the last six years, I've got a lot to share.

I played in pro-ams and events all over Southeast Queensland, and I'm happy to report that I even managed to make my first check in numerous years. It wasn't a massive win—a one-over par at Murwillumbah Golf Course that placed me 14th—but it was enough to cover my entry fees for the week.

I had a great time playing with a few of my clients who joined me at Coolangatta and Ocean Shores, despite the really wet conditions. A huge congratulations to Dion Manson, who scored 40 points at the Coolangatta Pro-Am and won the morning round, taking home a $300+ TaylorMade golf bag!

Through all this, I learned a few things about my own game that I think you'll find relatable.

The biggest takeaway for me is that the small efforts in the right areas make a huge difference, both for my body and my golf game.

My long game stats were surprisingly good, with lots of fairways and greens hit, but my short game inside 100 meters was not where it needed to be. In fact, my putting was probably the worst it's been in my 30-plus years as a golf pro. It was going well before the events, but unfortunately, I couldn't find the time to train during the week while coaching, and that's not going to cut it at that level.

But here's the thing: I didn't let that get me down.

I made a promise to myself that at no point would I hit a "no care" shot. I was committed to preparing, playing, and reviewing each shot, regardless of how I felt. And while I certainly got frustrated and angry at times—I'm only human—I was able to apply the mental training I teach in my 9 Shots Lower Program to ensure I scored as best I could given the conditions.

Hopefully, you hear that I'm trying to practice what I preach and that I face the same challenges in this game that you do.

Golf has a great way of bringing you back down to earth, even when you're hitting the ball as well as you have in a long time. It's a game about how you respond to problems.

📌  What's On: Upcoming Event & Programs!

This week's Saturday Social is a special graduation day for my current Get into Golf Program!

If you're a regular Saturday golfer, I highly recommend booking your spot as soon as possible, as there are limited spots available. I would absolutely love for any of the regulars to play alongside one of the beginners in an Ambrose/scramble format. Please let me know if you're willing so I can organize the groups accordingly.

They've been a great and fun group, and we're all going to have a great time. It's an important learning environment where mistakes are not only okay but encouraged—we'll learn from all of them. Everything is good; nothing is bad!

With this program wrapping up, it means my next Come and Try event is coming soon, followed by the next Get into Golf Program. If you know anyone who's looking to get into the game, please send them the links below.

I also have two spots available in my three-day Breaking Bad Golf Camp in October. This is a condensed version of the 9 Shots Lower Program for those who can't make the weekly events or want a more intense learning curve. You'll learn all the same skills and get three months of ongoing coaching through the app.

📩 Spread the Word!

Would these programs be perfect for a mate or family member? Please feel free to share this email with anyone who might be interested.

Looking forward to seeing you on the course!

Cheers!
Paul

This Golf Pro's Problem-Solving System to Avoid Blowout Holes

Do you have a simple system to follow after a bad shot? In this video, I'll teach you my step-by-step problem-solving system that will help you avoid costly blow-out holes. You'll learn how to properly assess a bad lie, make a smart decision, and save yourself from a round-ruining mistake.

I am trying to grow my YouTube channel so more people can get help in my unique way. I would really appreciate three things that will take you less than 5 minutes.

I'm always excited to hear about these successes, and it's a privilege to know I played a small part in them. This week, I want to celebrate a few of my clients who have had some incredible breakthroughs on the course:

  • Dion Manson won the morning section of the Coolangatta-Tweed Pro-Am, scoring 40 points and taking home a TaylorMade golf bag. That's a massive result!

  • Josh Nuttall, after just one Get Better at Coaching session, played the best game of his life.

  • Michael Cole had his best-ever round of golf, shooting seven shots better than his handicap in the second round of the Mount Tamborine Club Championships.

These incredible achievements reinforce the power of having a structured coaching program. As you can see, the right guidance can lead to tangible, life-changing results on the course, far beyond what one-off lessons can provide. If you're tired of being a good golfer one day and frustrated the next, it's time to build a consistent problem-solving routine.

If you're ready to transform your game and start shooting lower scores, I highly recommend checking out my programs:

Saturday Social: Back on the Course!

We had another massive turnout for our last Saturday Social on August 16th, with 28 players in total! We had seven groups, which meant two had to start from the back nine to get us all finished before dark. It was awesome to see so many familiar faces, but it was even better to see some new ones.

A huge welcome to Vanessa, Stuart, Trista, and Robbie, who were all invited along by regulars who’ve been involved in our programs for ages. I know they had a great time, and a big thank you to everyone who played with a first-timer and showed them a great time. The vibe on a Saturday Social is always top-notch, and I'm very proud to be a part of it.

This Saturday is a special one—it's graduation day for my current Get into Golf group! We'll have some new people joining us, and we'll be playing a two-person or four-person scramble. In this format, everyone tees off, and you pick the best shot to play from there.

But remember, this is Saturday Social—we don't have many rules! As long as everyone is having a go, learning new things (and making a few mistakes along the way), and most importantly, having a laugh and fun, that's all that matters. We'll be sure to tell all the sob stories at the 19th hole over a drink afterward!

If you're a regular and want to join, you'll need to book your spot ASAP, as space is limited.
