Newsletter 259
G'day Sports fans,
Let me tell you the real secret to improving in this game. It's something I wish I had with my own coaches back in the 90s and early 2000s, but it just wasn't possible then. I see so many of you—and so many golfers in general—waste time and effort trying to change your swing or improve your game without this crucial component. Unfortunately, as much as we'd all love to think our way into better golf, it just doesn't work like that.
The truth is, if you want to get better at something, you need to change your current beliefs and behaviors. The secret to improvement boils down to four key steps:
Knowing what to practice.
Knowing how to do it.
Receiving regular bits of small feedback as you train.
Adding pressure to your training.
Without all of these, you're just kidding yourself. And that's where I can help.
As one of my previous clients, you have full, free access to me and our coaching community via the Coach Now app. You can jump in at any time, ask me any questions, post videos, or even send an audio note about anything you're struggling with. And if you put it in there, I'm pretty sure other people would love to know the answer to the question as well.
I offer this as a free bonus to all the coaching you've done with me, and if you use it, you will improve. It's the regular feedback that makes all the difference. Don't think for a minute you're imposing on me—I allow time to respond to these things every week. If you're not sure how to use it, let me know, and I'll show you how to get in there next time I see you.
This kind of advice can't be free forever; it's something I'm looking to turn into a paid membership to help cover my costs and time. But at the moment, it's free for you, so dive in and make the most of it! Get that little bit of feedback you need that might make the big difference.

This Simple Golf Hack Will Fix Your Chipping INSTANTLY!
Are your bad short game shots due to bad technique, or just bad decision-making? Most golfers hit too much loft all the time, making simple shots incredibly difficult.
In this video, I reveal a simple flow chart and a concept I call a "mini-bag" that will revolutionize your chipping and short game without any more practice.
Discover how to choose the right club and strategy for any lie around the green, ensuring your worst short game shots are always better and saving you countless strokes.
I am trying to grow my YouTube channel so more people can get help in my unique way. I would really appreciate three things that will take you less than 5 minutes.

This newsletter’s success story is a very exciting one for me. It’s all about Amy Levine, who has been on an incredible journey since joining my Get into Golf program in October 2023. Amy is the life of every group she joins, and it’s been a privilege to watch her progress and become a good friend.
Like many of us who have been in the game for a while, Amy experienced that initial burst of improvement, but golf is a hard game that takes commitment and practice. After her initial program, Amy has been a consistent attendee at my Get Better at Golf Training Sessions, a testament to her dedication. Despite coming to coaching, practicing regularly, and playing a lot, she was frustrated with her results. It’s a feeling that every golfer can relate to—when you’re putting in all the effort, but your game seems to be going backward. You start to doubt yourself, wondering if it's even worth it. Amy would be the first to admit she felt like that at various times over the last couple of years.
But she stuck with it. And that's what makes this success story so special. On the other side of that struggle is so much better golf and a deeper appreciation for the game. Amy is now a true golf enthusiast, playing regularly with her partner Kris.
The real cherry on top? Just this last week, Amy played well enough at her home course, Windaroo Lakes, to win the B-grade net club championship! This is awesome! To do that in a stroke play event—the hardest form of the game—is a real sign of her improvement and where she is as a golfer now.
This is why we do it. The resilience and self-improvement this game gives us, and the appreciation for the tough times that make the good times feel so much better. Well done, Amy! You've got one proud coach here.
Saturday Social: Back on the Course!
We had a great turnout for Saturday Social last time around with 19 players! While that might not sound like our usual 30-plus, it was actually fantastic. So many of our long-time regulars were attending Darren Sweetman's 60th birthday celebration and couldn't make it to the course. First of all, a huge congrats to Darren on such a great milestone—you don't look a day over 45!
I was really excited to see so many newer faces stepping up to play. I think there were maybe only four people who'd been to more than a half-dozen Saturday Socials, which is exactly the point of the group. It's great to see new people coming, making new friends, and playing with a different group each time. A special welcome and well done to Michael and Lily, who recently graduated from my Get into Golf program, and to Scott, who joined us for his very first time.
Thank you once again to everyone who helped show our new players a great time. I look forward to seeing you all at the next one on September 27th. Be sure to book in down below!
